Strategy & Services
We approach our practice recognizing that digital stewardship must address
both assuring that cultural heritage and knowledge assets are effectively
preserved and accessible in original contexts, while managing those assets
toward appropriate, sustainable digital environments.
We assert that responsible digital stewardship also involves creatively
leveraging those assets to help achieve institutional vision, to enhance
learning, enable scholarly investigation and empower artistic expression.
Further, we believe that "creative leverage," properly applied, can stimulate
higher levels of contribution at societal and civilizational levels.
We continue to refine the digital stewardship model below – as well as other
approaches like quadrant charting and visualization – as part of our practice
strategies to help clients:
- assess their collections against specific parameters (i.e. preservation/
curatorial imperatives, earned income potential, collaborative
opportunity potential, etc.) to develop priorities for action,
- assess where their collections may range against the stewardship model in
terms of contribution to institutional vision and mission,
- develop strategies and programs to address preservation, digital transition,
and digital content management/repositories/remote storage services,
- conceptualize “digital leverage opportunities” to realize potential initiatives
identified above,
- create and design the programs and forge the collaborations to realize such
opportunities,
- develop the grants, sponsorship and earned income strategies to fund the
initiatives,
- assemble the talent and manage, where appropriate, the teams involved,
- refine the operational strategies and implement associated technologies and
processes, and
- develop and refine the business models and associated metrics to measure
impact and success.

Digital Stewardship Model A conceptual model suggesting increasing sophistication around how content and intellectual assets are preserved, selectively transitioned to digital formats, interpreted, and leveraged to meet institutional vision and mission.
|
We see an institution's digital stewardship performance as a function of how collections, programs and content range along the model above...and how out-year strategy suggests movement "up" the model.
We are pleased to make a full presentation of our thinking. Please contact us.
